Severe storms moved through the Pittsburgh area Tuesday night and into Wednesday evening, causing flooding and mudslides. Hundreds of power outages were also reported across the area. Heavy rain overnight flooded the Connoquenessing Creek leading to rescues and evacuations at nearby homes. Other people who live in Jackson Township had to be rescued from rushing water on Porter Cove Road. In New Sewickley Township…Flooding on Brush Creek Road and Marion Hill Road has closed the road in both directions between Cunning Road and Mecklem Road in Beaver County….and Kennywood Park announced it was closing early Wednesday due to severe storms in our area. The park posted the following on its website: Due to storms in the area and inclement weather expected the rest of the evening, Kennywood will be closing at 3:30 p.m. today. Guests currently at the park can present their ticket stub at the exit to receive a return ticket for another visit during the Summer Season.

Beaver County Isn’t Done With Strong Storms Yet
Beaver County and Western Pennsylvania aren’t done with strong storms yet. Today forecasters say there again is the threat for high winds, heavy rains, and hail. They add the conditions are ripe for an isolated tornado during the forecasted two separate storm events today. Tomorrow is set to bring in cooler, more comfortable conditions:

A ROCHESTER MAN IS ACCUSED OF FLASHING AN 11-YEAR-OLD GIRL AT THE WALMART STORE IN ECONOMY. 29-YEAR-OLD JUSTIN ANDREW BECKER OF ROCHESTER IS BEING HELD AT THE BEAVER COUNTY JAIL ON 25-THOUSAND DOLLARS BOND AWAITING A SEPTEMBER TRIAL. ACCORDING TO POLICE, BECKER EXPOSED HIS GENITALIA TO THE GIRL IN THE STORE ON APRIL 26TH. THE GIRL TOLD HER MOTHER, WHO POLICE SAY REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO CUSTOMER SERVICE.

PennDOT District 11 Road Closures Due to Flooding
PennDOT is advising motorists that the following state routes in Beaver County are closed at this time due to flooding:
- Route 588 from Eastvale to Route 65 in North Sewickley Township
- Route 551 in Big Beaver Borough
- Route 1019 (Brush Creek Road) from Route 68 to Route 588 in Marion and New Sewickley townships
- Route 4021 (Shenango Road) from Charles Street to Park Road in Chippewa Township
- Route 1008 (Soap Run Road) in Franklin Township
- Route 2006 (Lovi Road) in New Sewickley Township
Storms Cause Power Outages Throughout Beaver County
Severe storms across Beaver County left a large part of the community without power. Lauren Siburkis of Penn Power said they are still working to restore power…
…and there’s more bad weather predicted over the next 24 hours. Siburkis says they are preparing as best they can for the storms…
Meanwhile, Duquesne Light is reporting 400 customers still without power, with only a handful in Beaver County: 1 in Beaver, 20 in Center, 28 in East Rochester, 4 in Freedom, 20 in New Sewickley and 1 in Monaca.

BREAKING NEWS: The mayor of Zelienople declared a state of emergency last night after heavy rains flooded several downtown streets, businesses and residences. Mayor Tom Oliverio said in a statement posted late Tuesday on the borough’s Facebook page…”All residents are urged to stay indoors and avoid traveling on Main Street Area, East Beaver Street, West Beaver Street, Jefferson Street, Clay Street, Green Lane and West New Castle Street”. In addition, Route 528 in Zelienople remains closed this morning between Ramsey Road and Main Street, due to flooding.
