Overdose Medication Narcan Now Available In Some Beaver County Schools

The life-saving overdose medication Narcan has been made available in 128 public high schools across Pennsylvania, including the Western Beaver Junior and Senior High School and the Riverside Beaver County School District in Beaver County. Also included were the Moon Area School District in Allegheny County and the Seneca Valley School District in Butler County. Governor Tom Wolf said yesterday that the state partnered with Adapt Pharma to make the heroin and opioid antidote available to schools at no cost. School districts that have not yet obtained Narcan, but want to, may file an application with the Department of Health.

Krista Harmotto Dietzen Day Observed In Hopewell Area School District

Krista Harmotto Dietzen Day was observed in the Hopewell Area School District today.  According to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano, all students were asked to wear blue and gold to  honor Dietzen, a Hopewell grad and  2016 Silver Medal Volleyball champ. Dietzen was honored in  August with a parade and event  held at Dorsett Stadium.

Trump Rally And Schools Superintent The Subject Of Ambridge School Board Monthly Work Session

The Ambridge Area School Board held its monthly work session last night , and according to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano, after comments and questions from residents they told the group that the Trump rally went well, and the district was paid $750  deposit prior to Monday’s event, and will be paid $4,333.10 from the campaign for the event that attracted about 5,000 people. Another resident questioned how the search for a new superintendent was going and was told  that a committee has been formed to do a search .  Any information concerning the search should be available on the district’s website  within the next 2 weeks. Dr. Joseph Dimperio has been filling in since the  sick leave, and later the resignation of Dr. Cynthia Zurchin. The board’s regular meeting is next Wednesday at 7 p.m.

Commissioner Egley’s Office Undergoing Renovation This Week At Courthouse

The office of Beaver County Commissioners Chairwoman Sandie Egley is being renovated this week while she’s away on vacation, which begs the question…with the county’s financial situation in crisis mode, where’s the money coming from? No one – including the other two commissioners (Tony Amadio and Dan Camp) seem to know the answer to that question. Camp told Mike Romigh on Teleforum on Beaver County Radio this morning that renovating offices should not be a priority right now, especially at a time when every department in the county is being asked to make cuts because of the budget deficit. Egley returns to work Friday morning.

Hopewell Township Police Investigating Robbery Attempt

Hopewell Township police are investigating an attempted armed burglary at the Arby’s restaurant on Brodhead Road. Police say a suspect armed with a handgun entered the restaurant just before 10 p.m. Tuesday…and exited a rear door of the restaurant, and was last seen on foot. Nothing was taken, according to police. The suspect is described as a black man, about 35 years old, 5-foot-5, wearing baggy jeans, a baggy dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, and a blue and white bandana partially covering his face. Hopewell police are asking anyone with information to call them at (724) 378-0557.

Tigers Seen Prowling On The Patio At Robert’s Roadside Inn

(Bridgewater, PA)  There were some big vicious cats on the sports patio at Robert’s Roadside Inn Wednesday evening as head Coach Ryan Matsook and several of his Beaver Falls Fighting Tigers football team players were featured as special guests on this week’s edition of “Coaches Corner” live on 1230 WBVP and 1460 WMBA.   Along with Matsook, former Beaver Falls football coach and current Beaver County judge, Rick Mancini, made a special appearance.

The discussion centered around the Tigers’ upcoming big game with Central Valley Friday night, which will be aired on 1230 WBVP.  For a complete football broadcast schedule, click here.

(Center Township, PA) Hundreds of area senior citizens visited the Beaver Valley Mall as The Beaver County Office on Aging hosted Senior Day at the Mall on Wednesday,  Matt Drzik and Al Goehring hosted the festivities live on the air on WBVP and WMBA.

New Developments Regarding Friendship Ridge Audit Announced During Commissioners Work Session

Commissioner Dan Camp said the commissioners, the solicitor and the law department will meet with the Nottingham Group, the company that did the audit of Friendship Ridge, on Friday. According to Beaver County Radio’s Greg Benedetti, the commissioners are going to review the audit with the Nottingham group and will begin to determine a course of action. According to the audit, Comprehensive
Healthcare still owes the county 1.3 million dollars.
