A Beaver County child is the latest to be hospitalized with a rare, polio-like illness in Western Pennsylvania. Allegheny County health officials say the child is being treated at UPMC Children’s Hospital for a suspected case of acute flaccid myelitis (AFM). The Beaver County case is not linked to a similar case in Washington County, nor five others in the region.
