(Beaver Falls. Pa.) Rod Penfield, Site Vice President for FENOC at the Beaver Valley Power Station joined Frank Sparks on Teleforum today in the 10 o’clock hour.

Shell estimates that there are 5,100 workers currently employed at the Shell Ethane Cracker Plant. One could assume then that all staff were in attendance at the plant on August 13 as U.S. President Donald Trump made his first visit to the massive plant off of Route 18.
Trump started off by warmly greeting his Beaver County audience, whom he quickly reminded everyone belonged to him in November 2016:
As was to be expected, the feeling of praise was mutually received and given by the President and the Shell workers, as Trump’s main focus was about American production.
He also heaped praise upon Shell itself, claiming that he loved the view of the cranes and trucks on site (saying it reminded him of playing with those toys when he was little). He also acclaimed Shell for being announced as the newest cooperators in Trump’s “Pledge To American Workers” initiative.
Though Trump did bounce around at times–chiding the likes of Hillary Clinton, Elizabeth Warren & Joe Biden–for the majority he stayed focused on his self-claimed successes in helping American jobs and commerce survive and thrive.
If there was an enemy that Trump zeroed in on during the hour-and-change speech, it was China…the country with whom he felt was “screwing over” and “taking advantage” of America over years of attempts at socioeconomic dominance.
The crowd of workers were very positive of Trump and his speech, only booing at familiar targets like Hillary Clinton and the “Green New Deal”. In fact, the only level of agitation between the workers and Trump occurred after the speech, when the delayed departure of the presidential motorcade kept several hundred people inside the warehouse where the speech was held.

(Beaver Falls, Pa.) Air Force Staff Seargant Andrew Keeling and Tech Seargant Dave Sumpter stopped by Teleforum on Tuesday August 13, 2019. Staff Seargant Keeling is an Air Force Recruiter who is new to our area and Tech Seargant Sumpter is from the Cannonsburg Air Force Recruiting Facility.
The guys talked with show host Frank Sparks about their careers in the United States Air Force and what led them to become recruiters for the Air Force. Staff Seargant Keeling talked about growing up in Arizona and how he decided that he wanted to do something with his life and that he decided after studying the different branches of t he service that the Air Force was right for him. His MOS was a plumber before he moved on to wanting to help others achieve the success that he has by becoming a recruiter. Staff Seargant Keeling and his two dogs have recently been assigned to our area and he is working out of the Air Force Recruiting Center on Wagner Drive in Monaca.
Tech Seargant Sumpter talked about growing up in Oregon and his path that led him to the Air Force and the fact that after being an inventory specialist he wanted to help people and give back so he then went into recruiting. Tech Seargant Sumpter works out of the Cannonsburg Pa. Recruiting Center
They then went on to talk about the different options that the Air Force has to offer and the process of enlisting in the Air Force. The guys also talk about some of the benefits of the Air Force such as funding for school or to help pay back college loans. Tech Seargant Sumpter then told the listeners about some of the openings that the Air Force has now and is looking to fill.

Melissa spoke about the history of Beaver County during the Revolutionary War, their group’s celebration of its past traditions, and the Daughters’ connections with other groups such as the Veterans’ Breakfast Club.

(Monaca, Pa.) The Beaver Valley Mall parking lot was the setting for the 3rd Annual Back to School “Touch a Truck” event. There were Trucks from various industries plus a variety of Emergency vehicles that the children and their families could actually touch. The kids were honking horns, blow sirens and getting the chance to sit in the drivers seat. There were other activities and prize give aways by some of the malls retailers. Beaver County Radio’s Frank Sparks, host of Teleforum and Ed Hermick did a live broadcast during the Eric Mc Kenna show and Solid Gold Saturday. The personality prize wheel was manned by Beaver County Radio intern Kristian Beiga. The Beaver County Radio Pittsburgh Pirates Treasure Chest was also on hand for the event. This is just one of the many events and sales that the Beaver Valley has planned. In the first segment Jim talked with Nicole Darroch. She talked about growing up in South Heights and graduating from Ambridge High School. After high school Nicole went to Geneva College and studied education. While at Geneva she participated in a program that sent her to Germany. Nicole was eventually hired by her Alma Mater as a special education teacher and eventually moved into teaching the STEM-STEAM program. She talked about her passion for the program and that each year they have a family night so that the whole family can particpate in some of the activities that the students do. Darroch stated that she was able to do this through a grant from the Beaver County Educational Trust.
In Segment two Mr. Roddey talked with former Beaver County Commissioner and current President of the Beaver County Educational Trust Dennis Nichols. Nichols told Roddey about his up bringing and what exactly brought him to settle in Beaver County. Nichols then went on to talk about the Beaver County Educational Trust and what their mission is. They also talked about the late Richard Shaw and his roll in all of this.

(Beaver Falls, Pa.) Crystal Mc Fadden, Pittsburgh Veteran Employment Program Manager for C.A.S.Y. stopped by Teleforum with Frank Sparks in the 10 o’clock hour on Tuesdy July 23, 2019. Crystal talked with Frank about The non-profit C.A.S.Y. and how they help transitioning service members, under and un-employed veterans, guard and reserve members and their spouses find meaningful employment matches at livable wage opportunities through no-cost career readiness services and gap skills training. Crystal said that CASY’s primary clients are transitioning Veterans and Veteran’s who were prior military.
Frank and Crystal discussed the many other non-profits that she works with that also help get the word out about CASY. She mentioned that she attends alot of the Veteran’s Breakfast Club meetings and that Todd DePastino taught her that she needed to share her story just like the other veteran’s that attend and that helped her put a lot into perspective. Crystal said that they offer a wide variety of services to help veterans and their spouses find careers and that the CASY program has helped place over 50,000 people nationwide.
