(Beaver County, PA) The Best of Beaver County is easy to discover; it’s right on your radio!  Tune in every Thursday from 11 to 11:30 A.M.  for “The Best of Beaver County”, an innovative radio program on WBVP and WMBA presented by St. Barnabas. The show is hosted by Jim Roddey and is dedicated to shining light on the great things going on right here in local neighborhoods, and the people that are making it happen. Jim’s guest’s  today were Nicole Darroch, STEM & STEAM teacher for the Ambridge School District and Dennis Nichols, President of the Beaver County Educational Trust.

In the first segment Jim talked with Nicole Darroch. She talked about growing up in South Heights and graduating from Ambridge High School. After high school Nicole went to Geneva College and studied education. While at Geneva she participated in a program that sent her to Germany. Nicole was eventually hired by her Alma Mater as a special education teacher and eventually moved into teaching the STEM-STEAM program. She talked about her passion for the program and that each year they have a family night so that the whole family can particpate in some of the activities that the students do. Darroch stated that she was able to do this through a grant from the Beaver County Educational Trust.

 

 

 

 

 

 

In Segment two Mr. Roddey talked with former Beaver County Commissioner and current President of the Beaver County Educational Trust Dennis Nichols. Nichols told Roddey about his up bringing and what exactly brought him to settle in Beaver County. Nichols then went on to talk about the Beaver County Educational Trust and what their mission is.  They also talked about the late Richard Shaw and his roll in all of this.
