Hopewell School Board met last night  and  announced the resignation of 3 transportation aides, and the retirement of one aide.  According to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano, they are:  Marissa Henry, Thomas Hunt, Kristie Conrad, and  Carol Dishong who is retiring.   Olivia Costanza, a current transportation aide’s status, will now be substitute. Nicholas Slapikas ‘s status was changed to full time  English teacher at the high school. The board announced that John Lasky, high school custodian will retire on January 2, 2017. In other action, the board will solicit bids for the purchase and installation of security cameras at the junior high school and the high school. Supt. Dr. Michelle miller said that the current systems are outdated.

Hopewell Township  Police, assisted by the Beaver County detectives received information  Thursday that a body , possibly a victim of a drug overdose could be found in an apartment at 2411 Mill St. in the township..
According to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano, a search warrant was executed according to Police Chief Brian Uhrmacher , and a males’ body was found , and the Beaver County Coroner’s office was called and they are assisting with the investigation. The tenant Donald T. Teaford, 36 was charged with Abuse of a corpse and  is currently in the Beaver County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bond.  A hearing is scheduled for November 7, and  the investigation is continuing, Chief Uhrmacher said.

Ambridge borough’s manager tells Beaver County Radio newsman Pat Septak that we’re just about a year and a half away from seeing a very much improved downtown Ambridge. Joe Kauer has released new details of a streetscape improvement project that he hopes will revitalize the downtown business district along Merchant Street. Kauer says revitalizing the district could entice new businesses to the area. The project is expected to be completed in 2018 and is expected to cost about 2.5-million dollars.

Hopewell Township commissioners met last night and hired 2 new  road department laborers Terry George and  Steve Barkovich. According to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano, the men will begin their duties on Monday and be paid $15.81 an hour  in accordance with provisions of the collective bargaining agreement with the township and Local union 385 of the IBEW.   Mr. George attended last night’s meeting and thanked the commissioners for hiring him. Four part time police officers will begin their duties pending completion of testing and pre-employment physical exams.  Joseph J. Daransky, Kyle A. Fabyanic, Brandon A. Fedorka, and Corey R. McNally will earn $16.79 an hour.  The tentative starting date is on Tuesday, November 1. Commissioner’s chairman Rich Bufalini said the hirings  are necessary because some officers found other jobs or were promoted within the department. Trick or treat will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. in the township.
