Man Critically Wounded In Moon Shooting

A 28-year-old man was shot several times, including in the chest, in Moon Township late last night. It happened shortly before 11 p-m. Moon police received multiple calls of shots being fired in the Mooncrest public housing development. Police say officers arrived on the scene and eventually found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds in the 200 block of Oak Drive. He was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital, where he is listed in critical condition. Two men were seen running from the area after the shooting, according to Allegheny County detectives, who are still conducting the investigation. So far, no arrests have been made. Police are asking anyone who may have heard or seen anything in the vicinity of Oak Drive to call police at (412) 473-1300 or via social media. Callers can remain anonymous.

Heavy Traffic Backups Reported In Hopewell Township After Car Hits Deer

Traffic delays were heavy on Interstate 376 east in Hopewell Township this morning after a woman hit a deer. State police confirmed the vehicle hit the deer. A second car pulled over to help the woman, who was then rear-ended by third vehicle. There were no officials detours and no roads were closed, but the backup was still significant near the Pittsburgh International Airport. No one was injured in the crash.

The first year in the Beaver Valley Conference has brought a gridlock between its titans, and this made the Week 8 matchup between the Quips and the Warriors that crucial.

And in the case of Aliquippa, their comeback that much more elating.

The Quips come back from 14 down to score the final 22 points in a 22-14 victory over Central Valley at Sarge Alberts Stadium on WMBA Friday night. The win improved Aliquippa’s record to 5-1 in the conference and 7-2 overall. Meanwhile the Warriors drop to 5-2 in the BVC and 6-3 overall.

Robbie Kunselman (CV) and Tariq Jones (AQ) were selected as the CCBC Players of The Game.

Montour 38, Blackhawk 14

Week 8 means playoff spots are on the line. But for the Blackhawk Cougars, it has to wait until Week 9.

The Montour Spartans capped a successful Senior Night with a 38-14 victory over Blackhawk. The loss drops Blackhawk to 4-3 in the Northwest Nine; 5-3 overall. The Cougars must win at home against New Castle in Week 9 in order to make the playoffs; a loss will result in elimination. Montour’s victory improves their record to 4-3 in the conference, and 4-4 overall.

The Spartans’ Kavon Morman and the Cougars’ Tyler Hill were named the CCBC Players of The Game.

Beaver County D.A.’s Office Reminding Public About National Prescription Drug Take-Back Program
