Freedom High School graduate and author Leea Baltes announced that her new book, “Good Night Wishes”, a children’s book, is published as an e-book on Amazon. It’s available today.
Hardbacks and paperback versions will be available in book stores later today, Baltes said.
Baltes lives in Maryland and the book was illustrated by her 10 year old granddaughter.
Leeah is one of 9 children and a 1991 Freedom High School graduate. Her Mother, Thelma Lewis, lives in East Rochester.
Tree limbs feel onto Duquesne Light power lines in Vanport Township this morning, causing a power outage,
according to a company spokesperson. The spokesman said the incident occurred just before 8 A.M. This is the second occurrence this week in the Township,causing a power outage there. Beaver County Radio Correspondent Sandy Giordano has more.
Byron “Memphis” Allen, 26, was arrested June 16 and charged in an April 11 robbery-turned-shooting at a home in Conway.
Allen was charged by Conway police alongside 22-year-old Daiquan D. “Rugged” Reddick with counts including conspiracy to commit homicide, robbery and attempted aggravated assault.
Reddick was arrested shortly after the shooting and waived his right to a preliminary hearing. He is awaiting trial.
A local sports broadcaster from the New Castle area was killed in a multi vehicle accident on Interstate 76 in North Jackson Ohio yesterday morning. According to police, 53 year old Mark Schaas was killed in a five vehicle pile up on 1-76 around 10:30 yesterday morning. The crash took place in a contstruction zone and involved three semi trucks. Schaas was killed at the scene. His passenger and another driver were life-flighted and two others taken by medic to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. Charges have not been filed. The State Highway Patrol is working to determine the speed and how many hours the semi-truck driver at the origin of the accident had been on the road. (Beaver Falls, PA) The “Run For McGuire” committee had a meeting on Thursday evening June 29 to work on this year’s annual charity motorcycle ride fund raiser, which is happening on August 6, 2017. The group gathered at the Beaver County radio offices on 7th avenue in Beaver Falls and posed for a picture afterwards. Among other new things added for the upcoming event is a “Go Fund Me” account that can be found here.
In the past three years, over $8,000 has been raised from net net proceeds from the motorcycle ride to support the ongoing mission of caring for “God’s Entrusted Treasures” at McGuire Memorial. This year’s ride is $15 per driver and $10 per passenger and includes a Celebration picnic afterwards in Big Rock Park in New Brighton provided by Texas Road House in Monaca. Registration forms can be downloaded and printed here.
The route for this year’s ride was announced by committee member John Harvey. It is a 59 mile trek that travels through Lawrence and Beaver Counties, starting at WBVP-WMBA in Beaver Falls and ending at Big Rock Park in New Brighton.
