(San Jose, CA) Former Pittsburgh Penguins right winger Ryan Reaves decided to retire from hockey at the age of 39 years old.  

Reaves has played in the National Hockey League since the 2010-2011 season, playing in 1,075 games for seven NHL teams in sixteen seasons. 

He played 58 games for the Penguins in the 2017-2018 season before he signed with the Vegas Golden Knights in that same season.  

He started his professional hockey career playing for the St. Louis Blues, and also played for the New York Rangers, the Minnesota Wild and the Toronto Maple Leafs. 

He spent his final NHL season playing for the San Jose Sharks last season. 

Reaves announced his retirement yesterday in an Instagram post. 

Reaves recorded 3,225 hits in his career, which is seventh all-time in NHL history.
