For the last couple of years, a sticky situation arose as Beaver County did not have a properly operating shelter for men.
On Friday, the only thing that was sticky were the floorboards, as several gathered inside the under-construction new facility for a Beaver County men’s shelter in Vanport.
The Cornerstone of Beaver County held a “wallbreaking” ceremony at the new building on March 18, located at 697 State Avenue in Vanport Township. TCBC plans to have the 24-hour men’s shelter in full operation in the Fall of 2022. Director Marie Timpano led the ceremony in the new building, showcasing her gratitude towards those who helped make this goal for TCBC a reality.
“We’re not just transforming the building–and I mean this–we’re transforming lives,” Timpano said during the ceremony. In attendance for the wallbreaking were WTW Architecture VP Warren Bulseco, Beaver County Commissioner Jack Manning, and Vanport Township Commisssioner Denis Sutter.
“We’re excited that this is coming to Vanport,” Sutter said. “We look forward to seeing this building being renovated, and seeing all the services that it’ll be offering.”
