USW Reaches Tentative Contract Deal With ATI

The United Steelworkers union says it has reached a tentative deal with Allegheny Technologies that would end a six-month lockout of workers. Area media report the lockout has affected workers in six states, including an estimated 1,500 in Western Pennsylvania. It’s still unclear, however, what the deal would mean for the 270 union workers at ATI’s Midland plant, which idled last month and is expected to remain idle until later this year at the earliest.
