(Robinson Township, PA) U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said two people accused of being in the country illegally and a restaurant employee were taken into custody Monday after a traffic stop led to a brief pursuit in Allegheny County.

An ICE spokesperson said officers were conducting a targeted immigration enforcement operation in Robinson Township when they spotted a vehicle allegedly associated with a person who had previously been deported. Authorities attempted a traffic stop along Westpointe Drive, according to the agency.

ICE said the driver pulled into the parking lot of Central Diner & Grille and exited the vehicle with three other people before entering the restaurant.

According to ICE, officers entered the building to notify the manager about the situation and request permission to search the restaurant.

The agency alleged that during the encounter, a restaurant employee assaulted an ICE officer and was later taken into custody.

ICE said two undocumented immigrants and the employee were arrested.

It was not immediately clear whether charges had been filed. The restaurant manager was injured during the incident.
