(Pittsburgh, PA) Troy Rivetti has been appointed United States Attorney for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

Rivetti was sworn in by Chief U.S. District Judge Cathy Bissoon on Wednesday after being appointed to the role by the court’s board of judges last week. The appointment is effective May 28, 2026.

He had been serving in an acting capacity following the resignation of former U.S. Attorney Eric Olshan in January 2025, later serving as First Assistant U.S. Attorney before his latest appointment.

Rivetti has spent nearly 30 years with the Department of Justice, holding several leadership roles in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, including Acting U.S. Attorney and Criminal Division chief.

He joined the office in 1997 after working as a litigation associate at a Pittsburgh law firm and later clerking for Judge D. Brooks Smith.
