Mayor Dwan Walker of Aliquippa addressed State Auditor General Eugene DePasquale, and State Education Secretary Pedro A Rivera about transportation issues facing Aliquippa residents in search of jobs, according to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano. Aliquippa has no direct bus service from downtown Aliquippa. to Pittsburgh if they want to go to school or search for a job in the city. On December 31, 1970 the city’s bus service served by Woodlawn and Southjern ceased. Beaver Valley Motor Coach ceased operation on January 31, 1972 The local buses picked up at stops throughout the city and connected them to Port Authority buses in downtown Aliquippa .. Port Authority of Allegheny County’s funding for bus service to Aliquippa and others decreased, in 2007 Aliquippa’s service ceased. Beaver County Transit Authority has bus service from stops in Aliquippa to Ambridge where residents can transfer to travel to Pittsburgh, according to spokesperson Mary Jo Morandini. Port Authority picks up riders behind the Ambridge municipal offices at its park and ride , residents can call for scheduling info. The express travel center operated by BCTA behind McDonald’ has a run Monday through Friday morning and a return trip later in the day.
