UNDATED (AP) — Several states have passed near-total bans on abortion this year, prompting speculation about the impact on women seeking abortions if those laws ever take effect. In a vast swath of West Texas and the Texas Panhandle, there’s no need for speculation. For cities such as Amarillo and Lubbock, the nearest abortion clinics are more than 250 miles away. Faced with drives of four hours or more to Dallas, El Paso or out-of-state clinics, many women need at least two days to obtain an abortion.
