State Police in Lawrence County report a Volant man was recently scammed out of three hundred dollars. According to police the 62 year old man was chatting on Facebook who he thought was a friend who told him he had won 90 thousand dollars. The man was then contacted by another person telling him to purchase 300 dollars worth of Apple gift cards in exchange for the 90 thousand dollars. The victim purchased the gift cards but received nothing in return. He also divulged the password to his own personal Facebook account. The investigation is ongoing.
