Solicitor Meeting With Labor Unions, 2018 Budget in the Black

Beaver County Commissioners met in regular work session yesterday and solicitor Garen Fedeles reported he has met with four of seven unions in contract negotiation. Fedeles said he will meet with the three remaining unions. As of today, none of the contracts have been settled.

Commissioner Sandie Egley says 12 of 18 department heads are eligible for retirement and Egley wants all directors to prepare a succession plan for their department to guard against being unprepared for what might be a wave of retirements by year’s end.

Commissioners chairman Dan Camp says, contrary to a report from PFM consultants of Philadelphia, the county will not finish the year with a deficit. The latest figures from acting financial administrator Corey Trautman indicates county finances are in the black with about 34 million dollars in hand.

Camp and human resources directory Sydney Shaw reported 12 resumes have been received for the advertised position of chief administrator-chief clerk. Resumes will be accepted until Friday. Next, the interview process will begin.
