Radio Dial Rewind for Tuesday May 22, 2018

As we approach our 70th Anniversary at 1230 WBVP and 1460 WMBA, Beaver County Radio presents a series of live interviews with past and present staff to recollect the great history and memorable moments on WBVP and WMBA. On Tuesday May 22, 2018 during Teleforum with Frank Sparks he will have the following guests on air………

Before taking the Pittsburgh morning market by storm for three decades, Jim Merkel had his radio start at WMBA in the mid-1970s. He returns to his roots on May 22 at 9:10 as he sits down with Frank Sparks to discuss the beginnings of his long and distinguished career.

Current owner and station manager Mark Peterson joins program director and Teleforum host Frank Sparks for an on-air business meeting. Just kidding, of course…Mark has seen over 30 years of history on Beaver County Radio through his own eyes, and has studied all 70 years of WBVP and WMBA. He has compiled the histories into his new book “Behind The Microphone: The History of Radio In Beaver County, PA”, which will be the subject of the 10:00 hour of Teleforum on May 22.

and finally Frank will be joined by  Chris Shovlin whose voice has been heard on Beaver County Radio for over 40 years. He started as a sports announcer in the mid-1970s at WMBA, before becoming sports director and general manager during his long tenure at WBVP. He can still be heard every Saturday at Noon, as the host of “Frontiers In Learning” presented by Lincoln Learning Solutions.

“Radio Rewind” is brought to you by Ba’Runi Bar & Grille, the John Pournaras Agency, the Ambridge Italian Villa, Bowser Hyundai of Chippewa, McGee Heating & Cooling, and the Pennsylvania Hot Rod Company.
