(Pittsburgh, PA) Pittsburgh International Airport is currently on a pace to set a new annual record for flight diversions in 2026.

According to the Allegheny County Airport Authority’s Blue Sky News, through September 30th, the airport accommodated 411 diverted aircraft, which places it on track to pass its previous record of 463 diversions that was set in 2018.

The summer increase in flight diversions coincides with peak volume of air travel and severe thunderstorms.

Technical disruptions could be another factor of these flight diversions.
