(Harrisburg, PA) A growing phishing scam is now going around the state of Pennsylvania and thousands of patients who use MyChart are being warned about it.
The scam uses healthcare alerts that are fake so scammers can steal sensitive personal information.
According to the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, Penn Medicine and Epic Systems, which is the company behind MyChart, scammers are sending emails and text messages that appear to come from the popular patient portal platform.
These messages often use branding, logos and familiar healthcare notifications from MyChart to appear legitimate.
