The Pittsburgh Penquins we’re back on the ice hosting the Edmonton Oilers after getting blown out Saturday in Tampa Bay 7-1. After two scoreless periods that featured dominating goalie play from both teams the Pens got on the board first with a goal from Ian Cole his first of the season with a little over three minutes gone in the third period. Riley Sheahan in his first game as a Pen and Ryan Reaves assisted on the goal. At the 17:03 mark of the third period Connor McDavid scored his fourth goal of the season to tie up the game. The game then went to overtime when Phil Kessel took a break away pass from Geno Malkin and buried it home just 42 seconds into the session giving the Pens the 2-1 victory. The Pens are now 6-3-1 on the season. They will next be in action on Thursday night hosting the Winnepeg Jets at PPG Paints Arena. Edmonton falls to 2-5-1 on the season.
