(Harrisburg, PA) The Pennsylvania State Senate passed a bill yesterday which implements a “bell-to-bell” ban on students using cellphones in schools.

The bipartisan bill passed in a vote of 47-3, after it passed in the House last week by a vote of 141-62.

This bill requires schools in the state to adopt policies prohibiting student cellphone use during the school day.

It also allows school districts to set their own policies and it applies to career and technical schools, charter schools and cyber charter schools, intermediate units, private schools and school districts.

This bill now goes to Governor Josh Shapiro to sign into law.
