(Harrisburg, PA) A lawmaker in Pennsylvania wants to honor the life of country music legend Dolly Parton with her own holiday.  

Democratic State Rep. Ben Waxman (District 182) is now seeking co-sponsors for legislation which would recognize the date of September 25th as “Dolly Parton Day” in Pennsylvania. 

Waxman praised Parton in a memo for her career in country music and philanthropy, including her Imagination Library, which gave thousands of children in Pennsylvania access to books.

Parton passed away on August 25th from cancer at the age of 80.
