(Harrisburg, Pa.) PennDOT announced yesterday that it is no longer pursuing plans to toll nine interstate bridges in the state including on on Interstate 79 in Allegheny County.
Pa Commonwealth Court ruled earlier this year that PennDOT violated the state law with those proposed tolls and PennDot has decided that they will not appeal the decision.
PennDOT wanted to raise money for bridge replacements and repairs, but local leaders say the federal infrastructure bill will provide $13 billion over five years for those projects.
