(Harrisburg, PA) The Pennsylvania Game Commission (PGC) has confirmed one incident this summer of epizootic hemorrhagic disease (EHD) in the state of Pennsylvania.

According to PGC wildlife biologist Jeannine Fleegle, as of yesterday, that was the only confirmation of EHD the agency had received this year.

EHD is an often fatal disease to deer that is caused by viruses spread during the summer months by midges.

There were 14 confirmed incidents of EHD in 2025, and they were in Beaver County and twelve other Pennsylvania counties.
