(Atlanta, GA) Norfolk Southern has received criticism since the train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio in February of 2023, but now the company announced on Monday that its CEO, Alan Shaw, is being investigated for potential ethical lapses. Shaw was given the position in 2022, after being an employee there for decades. A spokesperson from Norfolk Southern did not give any comments on Monday about how bad the accusations were against Shaw, but his job is on the line as activist investor Ancora Holdings, who also did not speak on the issue Monday, has nominated several board members to try to change operations there. The board also said Sunday that an outside law firm was hired to indicate whether Shaw’s actions are not consistent with the company’s policies, and this could decide if he stays employed with Norfolk Southern, one of the six largest railroad companies in North America.
