Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano reports that LINDSAY SOLTIS WAS HIRED TO REPLACE STACEY ALEXANDER WHO IS NOW ASSISTANT ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL..HER SALARY WILL BE $40,134.00.  She will teach third grade. Brittany Halbig was hired as athletic trainer. $25,000 of her salary will be paid by a grant from the  NFL and the district is responsible for paying $10,000,.. The football team and coaches participated in a program through ESPN and the district received the grant through that program. Athletic director and football coach Mike Zmijanac said last week the grant from the NFL is for 4 years, and Halbig previously worked in the Monessen School District. The district entered into a contract with the Beaver Valley Intermediate Unit  to provide English as a second language (ESL) based on  a survey when a student enrolls in the district.  For the 2016-17 school year the rate is $38.00 an hour. Dr. Peter Carbone, superintendent,  explained that the IU evaluates the student and usually individual instruction is given. The program is not reimbursed by the government, he said.  Dr. Carbone said periodic testing of the student is done in reading, writing, comprehension and listening.
