Meeting once again in the “Little Theatre” area of the high school, the New Brighton Area School board met for the first of two meetings in September on Monday evening.

Among the propositions released to the public were the approval for six individuals to be candidates for the Pennsylvania School Boards Association, all of whom were selected unopposed. Board Vice President Christeen Ceratti was selected as alternative representative to the Joint Operating Committee of the Beaver County Career & Technology Center. The hiring of Alivia Sanvito (Elementary Teacher) and Sarah Martin (Instructional Assistant)–along with the resignation of Cesiah Wicker (Instructional Assistant)–are also pending official ratification by the board.

Also on the Monday night agenda were the pending approvals of the Elementary School Parent Compact and its Middle School equivalent for Title 1 of the 2022-23 school year. Two school trips–the Middle School trip to Washington D.C. from May 24-26 and the High School Band trip to Walt Disney World from March 26 to April 1–were also submitted for approval, with the cost of the trips to be made by the students and/or parental fundraising. Superintendent Joseph Guarino said that the Band Trip particularly was still in its stages of finalizing costs for its trip to Orlando. The price of an adult breakfast for the 2022-23 school year will be revised to $2.10 per meal, pending approval by the board.

All motions will be voted on at the second meeting–the voting meeting–by the school board on September 26. The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 PM at the “Little Theatre” in the New Brighton High School.
