Mayors Calling for Senate to Return

WASHINGTON (AP) — Hundreds of mayors are joining those calling for the Senate to return to Washington to pass two bills expanding background checks for gun sales. The House passed the bills earlier this year, and Senate passage would send the legislation to President Donald Trump. In a letter to Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell, more than 200 mayors urged McConnell to bring senators back to take action. So far, McConnell has resisted those calls.
