Gino Stevens, Hopewell Township has worked as a janitor at Margaret Ross Elementary School in Hopewell Township since 2000. He got his start in buildings and grounds 38 years ago and worked there for 1 year and also worked at the junior high school. He lost his job at J&L and 2 weeks later he began his career at Hopewell.
Thursday was his last day on the job. He reflected on his life and his career working in the schools. On Wednesday, the PTA hosted an event that included students and staff. He said there was a brief outdoor celebration and food and fun. He said “they did things for me I never expected.” He added, “I enjoyed the kids, they kept me young”. A luncheon was held with the staff in his honor on Thursday.
When asked what he’s going to do now that he’s retired, he said, “I’m going to catch up on things around the house, and he and his wife Denise, the junior high cafeteria manager plan to visit their son in Florida.
