(Beaver Falls, Pa) A groundbreaking ceremony was held Thursday morning at the Beaver County Emergency Services Complex along Route 51.

Beaver County Commissioner Chairman Dan Camp led the ceremony for a new hazardous materials garage that will be added to the site.

Camp acknowledged those who serve on the hazardous materials team noting that they are ready to respond every day.

He added that this new garage will provide a modern space to house these dangerous chemicals and make response more efficient.

Camp said “Beaver County remains prepared for today’s challenges, and those for tomorrow”.

Director of Emergency Services for Beaver County, Eric Brewer, also spoke during the event.

He recognized the dedication of our county response team and talked about multiple high stakes situations our local team has responded to over the years. Among those tragedies were the Flight 93 plane crash in Shanksville and the East Palestine train derailment.

He also noted that multiple out of the area teams were in attendance as well to show their support.

Chief County Detective Pat Young and District Attorney Nate Bible spoke during the ceremony as well.

C Tucker Cope and Widmer Engineering are handling the construction of the facility.

The project is set to start on Monday and steel is expected to arrive in September.
