(Beaver County, Pa) The PA Department of Health has announced a distribution event for Potassium Iodine tablets.

Tablets are free for Pennsylvanians who live, work, or attend school within a 10 mile radius of a nuclear power facility.

For Beaver Countians, it’s important to stay prepared in the case of an unlikely radiation event from the Beaver Valley Power Station in Shippingport.

Locally, the tablets will be distributed at the Center at the Mall inside the Beaver Valley Mall on August 14th from 2pm until 7pm.

While the tablets do not protect against all forms of radiation, nor prevent exposure, they do provide critical protection for certain scenarios.

Residents are urged to check the packaging on tablets they may currently have, as those issued prior to 2024 may be expired.

Residents are also allowed to receive tablets on behalf for others who can’t make it out to the event. In any case, the tablets are still available year round and you can get more information by contacting state health department.
