Despite a brief running time of under 15 minutes, the County Commissioners’ work session of December 4 did bring up two major points of revelation.
First, an opening at the Conservation District became the focal point of Commissioner Sandie Egley’s Board notes, and she requested that the trio table the new hiring until after the transfer of power (where she will be replaced by newcomer Jack Manning) so that the Conservation District–itself in a rather messy state–could have more time to find the right candidate.
Unfortunately for Egley, the contract requires that the new hire take place by December 15, which only gives the Commissioners 11 days to make a choice. Nevertheless, the outgoing Commissioner felt that the decision needs to be a carefully considered one:
