BREAKING NEWS: The football field at Northwestern Primary School in the Blackhawk School District is now closed to the public, and no future games or activities will take place on the field, until further notice. The district recently commissioned an environmental health and safety study of the conditions at the school and the football field playing surface, and the results are not good. According to the district’s website (www.bsd.k12.pa.us), the study revealed that some type of fecal matter was detected in ten of the 24 samples taken at the field. There are no known indications that the surface conditions pose a health risk, and no e-coli was detected, but out of “an abundance of caution”, the field will remain closed until further notice.
