(Beaver Falls, Pa) A Big Beaver Falls Area High School teacher is facing multiple charges due to alleged communication between her and a minor student.
Sarah Massa, 24, of Butler is accused of engaging in sexual conversations over text with one of her students.
According to the criminal complaint filed by the Patterson Township Police, Massa is said to have sent over 3,711 messages to the 16 year old juvenile over a two week period in June. Investigators say Massa deleted those messages from her phone but some were able to be recovered.
The complaint states that Massa suggested to the juvenile that there was sexual tension between them and expressed a desire to make out and perform oral sex on him, providing in detail how she would. She also allegedly asked to “hang out” with the student on multiple occasions without his mother’s knowledge.
Massa also sent 20-30 images of herself in lingerie to the juvenile and provided a cover story for him to tell his mother.
During the search of Massa’s phone, investigators also found messages sent from Massa to her mother with one stating “I’m not at all going to deny he and I talked and some conversations definitely got out of hand in terms of jokes and flirting”.
The juvenile said Massa gave him special treatment, offering hall passes to get out of class and allowing him to sleep in class.
He also received an extremely high grade point average of 114% in Massa’s class.
The Big Beaver Falls Area School District Superintendent Donna Nugent issued a statement Friday morning stating “The District immediately took appropriate action, notified the proper authorities, and is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.”
The District says that Massa has been “removed from duties that involving students.”
Massa was still listed on the district website teacher directory Friday morning as an english teacher but has since been removed.
She faces felony charges of unlawful contact and corruption of minors, among other offenses.
Her bail was set at $50,000 and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 1st.
