(Beaver County, PA) The Beaver County Sheriff’s Office is letting local residents know about a new scam in which citizens receive calls from “Tony Guy” claiming they are from that office. The office posted on Facebook yesterday that they do not contact people over the phone for missing something at the courthouse. If you owe money for fines, or any other reasons, the office would never ask for the money, nor does it handle money at all. Citizens should inform the caller that they will be calling the Sheriff’s Office to confirm their statements so it will be a good indication that the caller is a scammer. The next step is for the person who received the scam call to block and report the scammer’s phone number that they called them from. You can call 724-770-4600 to get more information or to call the county sheriff’s office.
