Beaver County Sheriff’s Office Hit Hard By Budget Cuts

The 2016 Beaver County budget has been finalized, and now the sheriff’s office is among those feeling the pinch. Sheriff Tony Guy says the budget will drastically reduce funding to his office, which means he’ll have to make more than 1.1-million dollars in cuts. Sheriff Guy tells Beaver County Radio newsman Pat Septak that layoffs of part-timers are imminent…and cuts in some services, such as the D.A.R.E. program and its K-9 unit, are also likely. Sheriff Guy met with county officials last week to plead his case but to no avail.
