(Beaver, Pa) The Chief County Assessor for Beaver County submitted an unprompted resignation Monday morning. According to a release from the Beaver County Assessment Office, Joshua Eckelberger met with County Detectives following the submission of his resignation.

An investigation into missing money from the Assessment Office is underway. According to the release, criminal charges are expected.

An audit of the Assessment Office is expected in the coming weeks to determine the full amount of money missing.

No dollar amounts were revealed in Monday’s announcement.

The office is also expected to “review procedures as it comes to handling the monies.”

Eckelberger has been the County’s Chief Assessor since 2021.

The County says they plan to immediately start a search for a new Chief Assessor.
