(Beaver, PA) A member of the Beaver Area School District board is now facing calls to step down after a post on social media that others in the community are calling sexist and Islamophobic. 

School board member Luke Berardelli stated in part in a recent Facebook post that “maybe the Islamic faith is the correct way to go considering they give women zero rights at all.”

This post supposedly came in response to the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, who is accused of fatally strangling her three children on January 24th, 2023 in her family’s home in Duxbury, Massachusetts. 

Berardelli responded to an inquiry from KDKA-TV, and affirmed that he was using “hyperbole” and sarcasm to make a point about extremism.

Five of eight school board members called on Berardelli to step down during a Beaver Area School District board meeting yesterday.
