Conor Sheary scored with 2:53 left in the third period — the Pittsburgh Penguins’ third power-play goal — in a 4-3 victory against the Florida Panthers at BB&T Center on Friday.
Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby also scored power-play goals, and Carter Rowney scored for Pittsburgh (5-2-1). Phil Kessel had two assists, and Matt Murray made 28 saves. Pittsburgh trailed 2-0 in the second period but scored three goals to take a 3-2 lead. The Panthers then tied it up at three in the third before Sheary’s heroics gave the Pens the victory. The Pens are now 5-2-1 with 11 points one point behind the Devils for first place in the Metropolitan Divison. The Panthers are now 2-4-0 with 4 points in the Atlantic Division.
The Pens play another of their 19 back to back games this season at the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.
Penguins were 3-for-4 on the power play, the second time this season they scored three power-play goals.
It was another great night for high school football. Rochester scored first, but it was a highly competitive game in the first half. Until the last play of the game Rochester scored to go up by two scores. Union never recovered nor did they score in the second half. There were a lot of outstanding players for both teams but the players of the game were Michael Flowers for Union and Caleb Collin for Rochester. The final was 47-14 Rochester.

Tom Hays and Bruce Frey were on the call for 1460 WMBA’s Broadcast from Alquippa. The Quips came into the game hot off their win against Quaker Valley last week standing alone a top section 3A Beaver Valley Conference play. Aliquippa took and early lead in the first quarter and then dominated the warriors the rest of the way . The Quips led 14-0 after one period.the Warriors scored a fieldgoal right before the end of the first half. As the horn sounded for the half the Quips had a 20-3 lead. After three quarters the Quips had control of the game leading 28 to 3. The Quips called off the dogs and coasted in the fourth quarter for victory winning easily. The CCBC Players of the Game are M.J. Devonshire for Aliquippa and Danny Santia for the Warriors.
1230 WBVP’s Bob Barrickman and Bill Fontana have the call from Rochester High School of this WPIAL Class 1-A Big 7 Conference high school football game as the Rams battle the Scotties.
