Pens 5 – Rangers 4 Final/OT

The Pens beat the New York Rangers   5 to 4 in Overtime Tuesday night. Geno Malkin scored less than a minute into the overtime period to give the Pens the extra point and the victory.  Phil Kessel assisted on Malkin’s goal. Malkin finished the night with a goal and two assists to lead the way for the Pens. Kessel had a goal and  two assists. Other Pens scorers were Crosby with a goal and an assist,  Haglin, and Hornqvist. The Pens are now in first place in the Metropolitan division with a record of 7-4-2 and they have 9 points. The Rangers who have had a tough start to the season fall to 1-5-1 and only have 3 points on the young season. The Pens are back in Action on Friday, October 20, 2017. They will travel to Florida to play the Panthers who are 2-3-0 on the season.

Liberty out as coach of Freedom Bulldogs!!

It has been reported on multiple high school football outlets on Twitter as well as  from Mike Bires of The Beaver County Times as  that Tom Liberty head coach of the Freedom Bulldogs has resigned and Russ Barley named interim coach. Stay tuned to Beaver County Radio for further details as this story develops and tune into the Coach Corner with Bob Barrickman Wednesday night, October 18, 2017 at 7p.m. for additional updates.

Beaver County Radio’s Greg Benedetti is working on the story and was told by the Freedom School District Athletic Director and High School Principal that it is a personnel matter and that he would have to speak with the superintendent who is out of town until next Monday. Greg was able to attain a statement  from the Superintendents office that which stated that Tom Liberty has resigned as Head Coach of the Bulldogs and Russ Barley will be the interim coach for the remainder of the season and other than that they have no further comment.

Penquins Preview against the Rangers October 17, 2017

The Back to Back Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penquins take the show to the road and Madison Square Garden tonight in a Metropolitan Division Match up against the New York Rangers. The Pens come into the game fresh off a 4-3 win over the Florida Panthers at PPG Paints arena on Saturday night.  The Rangers season hasn’t started out like they thought as they come into tonight’s game in last place in the Metropolitan Division with a 1-5-0 record and have only 2 points on the season.  The Pens meanwhile are 6-3-1 with 7 points in the division and are currently in second place in the division one point behind the Devils  and Blue Jackets.

Highlands Slaughters Blackhawk

In a game heard on WBVP and WMBA, Highlands scored a 56-12 victory over Blackhawk.

Beaver County Community College Player’s of the Game were Romello Freeman (Highlands) and Payton Stewart (Blackhawk).
