Freedom Brings Home Silver Medal For Second Straight Year In 2A Girls WPIAL Championship Game They Lose 44-34

It started better than it ended for the Freedom girls basketball team as they drop a tough one against a team that was pretty much their equal ,  they split each with one win a piece against Shenango in the two games they played in section this year and they both averaged 55 points a game. It was a close game from start to finish with Freedom leading after the first quarter 12-11, at the start it was Julz Mohrbacher Bringing a rebound down and scored a basket then down under the hoop Morgan Keller stole a in bound pass and scored giving the Bulldogs a four to nothing lead, Freedom then went into a two one two zone to keep the Shenango Wildcats team out of three point range which was working. Shenango went in to a double team the Julz Mohrbacher defense and sometimes that was a triple team trying to keep here of the boards. Shenango was getting into foul trouble having 5 in the first quarter, Freedom  was ahead 23-22 at the half and 29-28 at the end of the third quarter, but with about 4:20 left in the game and the score tied at 34 Mohrbacher was called for her fifth foul of the game and had to sit the bench for the remainder of the game which didn’t help their chances much and that was the end of offense for the Bulldogs as the Wildcats dug in and took the ball to the hoop, it was a great game between to evenly matched high school teams final score Shenango 44 Freedom 34. Top scorers for the game Kylee Ruben had 17  for Shenango and Julz Mohrbacher had 15 for Freedom,Olivia Henderson sinking 12, the game  was Broadcast here on 95.7 FM 99.3 FM 1230 WBVP/1460 WMBA and around the world on Beaver County Radio, by Bruce Frey and Frank Salopek  stay tuned We will have the boys 4A championship game tomorrow night 3-3-23 with Lincoln Park vs. North Catholic air time will be 8:30 pm live from the Peterson Events Center with Mike Azadian and Joe Sager right here on Beaver county radio.

Easy Come Easy go Aliquippa Headed To The Peterson Event Center They Win 61-36

Aliquippa made it look easy as their play was turned up a notch, as they were out running their selves a little bit in the first with some turnovers, but the hustle paid off as Greensburg Central was getting a lot of resistance at mid court and the Quips were able to ward off the Centurions making them battle hard just to get off a shot. The game moved fast up and down the court with the Quips leading at the end of 0ne 17-6 with Quinton Goode getting 10 of his 24 points in the first. Greensburg played better in the second out scoring Aliquippa 14 to 13 but that’s all they could do as Aliquippa seemed to find yet another gear and strolled on home with a great win. Quinton Goode 24pts Cameron Lyndsey 10pts and Jase Williams with 8 lead the Quips on offense and T.K Hayes  was a force on Defense, this was a very complete game for Aliquippa, the game was broadcast on 95.7Fm 99.3FM 1230Wbvp/1460WMBA and around the world on Beaver County Radio by Mike Azadian And Joe Sager, stay tuned this Thursday it will be the Freedom Lady Bulldogs Heading back to the  Peterson Event Center To play Shenango at 6:30pm here on 99.3FM 95.7FM 1230WBVP/1460WMBA and around the world on Beaver County Radio that game will be broadcast by Bruce Frey and Frank Salopek.

Aliquippa Boys Beat Shenango 63 -45!

The Quips came out like they do, playing Aliquippa basketball running, great pressure great rebounding and great, defense that’s what they do and its no secret, Shenango was staying with them in the first quarter when it was 10-8 when DJ Walker drove in faked right and went left to make it 12-8 then the Quips got a quick steal shot a three to make it 15-8 and that was as close as Shenango would be. The game did get a little hot as a Shenango player drew a technical foul  that drew attention from the head official Anthony Court to warn both benches to calm down. The Quips lead after the first 15-8 and the second they had the lead 31-21.
