John Simecak (1944-2025)

John Simecak, 80, of Bridgewater, passed away on March 30th, 2025.

He was born in Beaver on September 2, 1944, a son of the late Jacob and Caroline Jurich Simecak. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia L. Kovalesky Simecak and his son, Hubert J. Kovalesky, Jr. He is also preceded in death by Frank and Marion Justice and Frankie Justice. He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Patricia L. Kovalesky, his son, Eugene N. Kovalesky, his daughter-in-law, Barb Kovalesky, his sisters, Anna Sipp and Kathie (Bruce) Wise, his brother, Nick (Patty) Simecak, his grandchildren: Tommy (Dena) Lipp, Curtis (Rebecca) Kovalesky, Hubert (Alisha) Kovalesky, Steven Sipe, Matthew Sipe and Erin Cole; as well as his great-grandchildren, Macie Lipp, Lincoln and Kelly Kovalesky, Curtis II and Andrew Kovalesky and a baby girl on the way.

John was a graduate of Beaver Area High School, going on to serve in the U. S. Army. He worked all his life, including a career as a crane man with B & W Steel and a security guard with Shasta Services. He also worked delivering newspapers and setting bowling pins. In his spare time, John was an avid bowler for many years. He also loved working on cars and especially enjoyed spending time with all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joshua Lucas Landsbach (1974-2025)

Joshua Lucas Landsbach, 50, of Big Beaver, passed away on March 29th, 2025 at Good Samaritan Hospice House, Wexford. He was born in Greensburg on May 31st, 1974, the son of Jason Lee and Janice Lynn Recker Landsbach. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer M. Lucas, his step-daughter, Hannah Pierce, his brother, Jason (Ann Olson) Landsbach II, his two grandchildren, Payton Pierce and Hailey Melott and a devoted best friend, Jason Myers.

Joshua had a passion for the outdoors. He was an avid hiker and enjoyed planting bushes and trees everywhere he went. His generosity and good sense of humor permeated every aspect of his life, from his work to his personal relationships. Friends will be received on Thursday, April 3rd from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon in Corless-Kunselman Funeral Services, LLC, 3801 4th Avenue, Beaver Falls, where Pastor Allan Brooks will officiate. Albert Stauch (1926-2025)

Albert Stauch, 98, a former long time resident of Ambridge, passed away on March 26, 2025. He was born on July 23rd, 1926. For the last 3 years, he was living at Apple Blossom Senior Living in Moon Township. He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Klara. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law in New Mexico, Ursula and Stan Zdziarski. Albert was born in Germany and came to the USA in 1951 with his wife and daughter. He worked for many years as an auto mechanic, first at Ambridge Lincoln-Mercury, then at Penney’s Auto Garage in Baden and retired from Demor Automotive on McKnight Road. He was well known throughout the area as a skilled front-end mechanic and had a loyal following of satisfied customers. Albert was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ambridge from 1952 until the present. For many years he served as one of the church ushers, and with 2 other men was part of the group which the church members affectionately dubbed “The Three Musketeers.” This group donated many hours to cleaning, repairing, and maintaining the church facilities. Albert was also always available to help out any neighbors or friends, whether with automotive problems or with household “fix-it” issues. He was loved by all who knew him. Ursula and Stan wish to thank all the neighbors, friends, and church members who provided assistance to Albert in his later years when his health declined and he was no longer able to drive or manage strenuous activities. Their help enabled Albert to remain in his home as long as possible. Ursula and Stan are especially grateful for the assistance provided by Pastor Gordon Strunk, the former pastor of St. John’s until his retirement. Pastor Strunk regularly took Albert out to lunch at local restaurants, did grocery shopping, took him to doctor appointments, and faithfully continued to visit to provide spiritual comfort. A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1320 Church Street, Ambridge on Sunday, April 6th, at the end of the regularly scheduled 11:15 a.m. church service. If desired, memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1320 Church Street, Ambridge, PA, 15003. The Corless-Matter Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 1133 Church Street, Ambridge, is in charge of arrangements.

Eleanor Linn Hesser (1940-2025)

Eleanor Linn Hesser, 84, of Zelienople, formerly of Beaver, passed away peacefully on March 26th, 2025.

She was born in Rochester on July 24th, 1940, a daughter of the late Robert and Eleanor Linn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James A. Hesser and her sister, Beth Mitchell. She is survived by her son, Kirk (Catherine) Hesser, her daughter, Jenny (Christopher) Jett, her granddaughter, Cheyenne Jett and her sisters, Marty Scheidmantel and Mary Hockenberry.

Eleanor was a graduate of Beaver High School and Robert Morris College. When she lived in Beaver, she attended First Presbyterian Church of Beaver. She worked as a corporate secretary and was a housewife and mother.

Professional arrangements have been entrusted to Noll Funeral Home, Inc., 333 Third St., Beaver. All services were private. She was buried on March 31st, 2025. Online condolences may be shared at www.nollfuneral.com.

Carol L (Duff) Sockaci (1956-2025)

Carol L. (Duff) Sockaci, 68, of Darlington Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 30th, 2025, at UPMC Passavant-McCandless.

She was born in Ellwood City on May 23rd, 1956, a daughter of the late Floyd and Shirley (Majors) Duff. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Zachary Stephen Sockaci and her niece, Amy Sockaci. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Zachary Sockaci, her children, Danielle (Dan) Luhrs, Jill (Matt) Glomb and Shawn Sockaci, her grandchildren: Colten Luhrs, Jarett Luhrs, Farrah Glomb, Marin Glomb and Stevie Sockaci; a brother, James (Sue) Duff, and a sister, JoAnn (Ed) Vano, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Carol was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed cooking for her family and those gathered around her table.  She loved reading, online shopping, family vacations and entertaining.

The family would like to thank nurses and doctors at UPMC Passavant McCandless for their care during her illness.

Friends will be received on Thursday, April 3rd from 1-3 P.M. & 5 P.M. until the time of services at 7 P.M. at the Gabauer-Lutton Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 117 Blackhawk Road, Beaver Falls.

Private interment will be in the Lillyville Church of God Cemetery.

Esther L. King (1956-2025)

Esther Lamore King, 69, of Jamaica, passed away on March 19th, 2025, in UPMC Passavant.

The Sylvania Hills Baptist Church, 567 S R 1035, Rochester, held her services.

Esther will be buried in Jamaica.

Thomas Renzo, Sr. (1966-2025)

Thomas Renzo, Sr., 58, passed away on March 26th, 2025. He was born on
May 12th, 1966. He was preceded in death by his parents, Beverly and Robert, his son, Nicholas and his siblings, Debbie(George) and Sherri. He is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Renzo, his children: Tommy(Katie), Alyssa, Dominic, Matthew, Brandon, Kristin(Jarod) and Kenny, his siblings, Robert, Dawn(Mike), brother in-law, Mike(Becky), sister in-law, Marilyn, his grandchildren: Alayah, Frankie, Amoir, Keimyn, Kyra, Shay, Ju’elz, Tristian and Alivia; as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous other relatives.

Thomas was a fighter in every sense of the word. He faced life’s challenges with determination, always putting his loved ones first and never backing down from what was right. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, a proud grandfather and a loyal friend. His presence brought warmth, laughter, and wisdom to those around him.

He had a deep passion for riding his Harley Davidson, finding freedom on the open road and embracing the thrill of the ride. His love for motorcycles was a reflection of his spirit, which was bold, fearless, and full of life.

Above all, Thomas was a family man. He inspired them, instilling values of love, perseverance, and integrity. He cherished his role as a grandfather, embracing every moment with his grandchildren and making memories that will be treasured forever. His love for his family knew no bounds, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Thomas often said he wanted the world to know the name “Thomas Renzo,” not just as a name, but as a symbol of strength, success, and goodness. His family will continue to honor that wish, carrying his name forward with pride and purpose.

Friends will be received on Monday, March 31st from 3 p.m. until the time of a funeral Service at 6:30 p.m. in the Huntsman Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Rochester, 502 Adams Street, Rochester, conducted by Pastor Bill Blume. A memorial gathering will be held at The Rochester Turners338 Pennsylvania Ave, Rochester, directly following the service.

Deloris R. Housholder (1928-2025)

Deloris R. Housholder, 96, of Daugherty Township, passed away on March 27th, 2025
at the Rochester Manor. She was born in New Sewickley Township on September 2nd, 1928, a daughter of the late Elmer J. and Flora Lutz Pflug. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Richard C. Householder, one granddaughter, Cheryl Strobel, one son-in-law, C. Frank Doyle, one sister, Alma Pflug, and four brothers, Russell, Clayton, Raymond and Merrill Pflug. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Janet M. Doyle and Elva J. and Wayne Harley and Joy M. and Gale Zahn, seven grandchildren: Douglas and Danielle Harley, Jodi and Bronson Strobel, Jeri and Bryan Yeck, Thomas and Katherine Harley, Gena and Thad Tokar, Mark and Kelley Harley and Aaron Harley; as well as twelve great grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. Deloris worked for the former New Brighton Hospital as a Stenographer. Deloris was a homemaker and housewife during most of her adult life who spent a lot of her time working at the family farm. She was a lifetime member of St. John Burry’s Church of New Sewickley Township, where she was a former Sunday school teacher as well as a member of Faith Circle. She also traveled on many mission trips for them.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 1st , from 3-7 p.m. at the William Murphy Funeral Home Inc., 349 Adams Street, Rochester, and on Wednesday, April 2nd at St. John Burry’s Church from 10 a.m. until the time of a service at 11 a.m. Reverend Jim Richwine will officiate. Interment will follow in St. John Burry’s Cemetery. The family wishes for memorial contributions in lieu of flowers, be made to St. John Burry’s Church 1835 Route 68 Rochester, PA 15074. The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Rochester Manor and Vitas Hospice for the care and comfort provided to our mother.

Carol Ann Mayo (1945-2025)

Carol Ann Mayo, 79, of Economy Borough, passed away on March 24th, 2025 in Beaver Valley Healthcare and Rehabilitation of South Beaver Township. She was born in Rochester on October 8th, 1945, a daughter of the late Peter and Cecilia Lagud Kiser. Carol was preceded in death by her husband John F. Mayo, a sister, Cheryl “Bounie” Smith and a brother-in-law, William “Bill” Anderson. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa M. and Eric Novosat, one son, John T. Mayo, four grandchildren, Ashton C. Mayo, Kathryn, Mia and Madilyn Novosat, one sister, Joyce “Cookie” Anderson of Virginia, three brothers-in-law, Frank and Karen Mayo, Ronald Mayo and Michael and Dawn Mayo and a brother-in-law, Douglas Smith of Arizona. Carol was a retired LPN for St. Joseph Convent of Baden. She was a member of the former Our Lady of Peace Roman Catholic Church of Conway. Carol’s wishes were to be cremated with a Celebration of Life Memorial service for her and her late husband John, which will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery Columbarium, 761 Allendale Road, New Brighton. All arrangements have been entrusted to William Murphy Funeral Home Inc., 349 Adams Street, Rochester.

Robert L. Squires, Jr. (1948-2025)

Robert L. Squires, Jr., 76, of Hopewell Township, passed away on March 26th, 2025 in the VA Hospital Pittsburgh.  He was born in Rochester on June 1st, 1948, the son of the late Robert L. Squires Sr. and Elizabeth  E. Froehly. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joann “Jody” Squires. He is survived by his children: his favorite child, Ashley & Bruce Biggins Jr., Roberta & Zach Smith and JJ & Jeanne Hennessy; four grandchildren, Riley, Hayden, Benny and Taylor, his three sisters, Nancy (John) Simpson, Peggy Swogger and his seeing eye sister, Michele (Harold) Thomas. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be deeply missed by his dog, D.O.G.

Robert was a retired truck driver.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran Serving during Vietnam.  He was an avid sportsman. He loved to hunt and go fishing and was a member of the Southside Sportsman’s Club. He and his wife loved to go on rides on their Harley Davidson, taking numerous trips over the years.  He was also an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Penguins Fan.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the branch of Huntsman Funeral and Cremation Services.
