Ellwood City Man Cited by Pa State Police After One Vehicle Accident in Wayne Twp.

(Wayne Township, Lawrence County. Pa.) Pa State Police in New Castle have charged a 22-year-old Ellwood City Man with not driving properly on roadways laned for traffic after a one vehicle accident occurred in Wayne Twp., Lawrence County.
Troopers said via release that Dylan Haynes was traveling north on Oswald street around 12:05 AM on Monday morning, October 17, 2022, when the rear passenger side control arm broke on the 2003 Toyota Celica that he was driving. The broken control arm caused Haynes to lose control of the vehicle and strike an embankment and then roll over on the roof of the vehicle. Neither Haynes or his passenger, 22-year-old, Peyton Caminiti of Ellwood City were injured in the accident.

State Police are Looking For Information on Damaged Public Toilet On I-376 in Chippewa

(Chippewa Township, Beaver County, Pa.) Pa State Police in Gibsonia are looking for the publics help with any information concerning a public bathroom being damaged.
Troopers reported via release that sometime between 1:00 AM last Tuesday, October 11, 2022,  and 8:00 PM Thursday, October 12, 2022, an unknown actor entered the public bathroom at the I-376 East Interchange in Chippewa Twp. and damaged a toilet.
Troopers are asking anyone with information to contact them at the Gibsonia Barracks at 724-443-5907.

Gas prices are three cents higher in Western Pennsylvania this week at $3.990 per gallon, according to AAA East Central’s Gas Price Report.

Trend Analysis:

The national average pump price for a gallon of gas decreased three cents over the past week to hit $3.88. Lower gasoline demand, amid increasing supply and fluctuating oil prices, has contributed to the national average moving downward. Today’s national average is 20 cents higher than a month ago and 56 cents more than a year ago.

At the close of Friday’s formal trading session, West Texas Intermediate decreased by $3.50 to settle at $85.61. Concerns regarding a possible global economic recession led to a drop in the price of crude which helped to minimize pump price increases last week. Additionally, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported total commercial crude inventories increased by 9.9 million barrels to 439.1 million barrels.

Meanwhile, domestic gasoline demand decreased as fewer drivers fueled up in the first half of October. According to EIA, gas demand decreased nationally from 9.47 million barrels per day to 8.28 million barrels per day, and total domestic gasoline stocks increased by 2 million barrels to 209.5 million barrels.

Northbound I-79 Lane Overnight Closure Tuesday Night in Aleppo

(Pittsburgh, PA ) PennDOT District 11 is announcing that an overnight closure of the northbound I-79 local lane at the traffic crossover in Aleppo Township, Allegheny County, will occur Tuesday night, October 18 weather permitting.

An overnight closure of the northbound I-79 LOCAL lane at the traffic split just north of the Neville Island Bridge will occur from 7 p.m. Tuesday night to 6 a.m. Wednesday morning as crews conduct concrete approach slab and barrier work at the bridge over Glenfield Road.  All northbound traffic on I-79 will be required to use the crossed-over EXPRESS lane. Northbound I-79 traffic to Mt. Nebo Road (Exit 68) will be detoured.

  • Continue on northbound I-79 in the EXPRESS lane to the Route 910/Wexford (Exit 73) off-ramp
  • Turn left onto Wexford Bayne Road (Route 910)
  • Turn left onto the ramp to southbound I-79
  • Take the ramp to Mt. Nebo Road (Exit 68)
  • End detour

The on-ramp from Kilbuck Street to northbound I-79 will remain open.

The work is part of the $26.49 million I-79 improvement project. Improvements include four bridge deck replacements, one bridge preservation, milling and resurfacing, preservation work on seven sign structures, installation of five new ITS signs, guide rail improvements, signage updates, and pavement marking installation. Crossovers will occur on I-79 in 2022 and 2023 for bridge deck replacement work. The majority of the project will conclude in the fall of 2023.

The prime contractor is the Joseph B. Fay Company. Work on this project will be coordinated with other projects in the area.

WASHINGTON (AP) — A new poll shows 71% of voters think the future of the country is at stake when they vote in November’s midterm elections. That’s according to a new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research. The poll findings suggest voters are motivated to turn out despite deep pessimism about the state of U.S. politics and dissatisfaction with the country. With less than a month to go, about 8 in 10 registered voters say casting their ballot this year is extremely or very important. That’s true of voters who prefer Republicans win majorities in Congress, and those who want to see Democrats remain in control.

GOP Goes to Court Again over Pennsylvania Mail-in Ballots

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — The state and national Republican parties are suing anew in Pennsylvania in an effort to block some mail-in ballots — those lacking the voter’s handwritten date on the outside envelope — from being counted in the November election. The GOP’s filing late Sunday night went straight to the state Supreme Court, with barely three weeks before Election Day when Pennsylvania’s voters will elect a new governor and U.S. senator. The court doesn’t have to take the lawsuit. The legal fight has already reached both the U.S. Supreme Court and state Supreme Court, producing conflicting conclusions on narrower issues in different courts. Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf’s administration has told counties to count the ballots.

Lincoln Park Presents “Fiddle In The Box” Featuring John Parrendo On October 20

Lincoln Park Arts will be presenting “Fiddle In The Box” featuring violinist John Parrendo at the BlackBox Theater this Thursday, October 20 at 7:00 PM. The show is part of Lincoln Park’s “In The Box” series, which features smaller music combos and groups for a more intimate performance.

“We’ve had jazz, Latin, country-rock…all different varieties of things,” spoke Eric DeFade about the BlackBox Theater. “It’s an amazing venue that can be converted from regular concert seating to a venue with tables and a bar in the back…kind of like an instant pop-up nightclub.”

DeFade joined Parrendo to discuss “Fiddle In The Box” on the October 17 edition of A.M. Beaver County; a show that Parrendo describes as a show with much variety. “This Thursday, you’re going to hear a little bit of everything,” he stated. “Pop, rock, country, jazz, instrumental…it’s not just going to be fiddle, but violin and some of the music I’ve played over the years including music from some of the artists that have inspired me over the years that I’ve been playing.” Parrendo hinted at the songs spanning “from Frank Sinatra to Dave Matthews” and hinted that there may be a Charlie Daniels song or two scattered into the evening’s repertoire.

Two Vehicle Accident on Old-Brodhead Road Causes Injuries

Beaver County Emergency Services reported that police and firefighters were called to the scene of a two vehicle accident on Old Brodhead Road in Center Twp., Beaver County Sunday night, October 16, 2022 just after 7:30 PM. Dispatchers reported that there were and injuries.

No other information was available.

Memorial Service Held For Former Pa Governor Dick Thornburgh

(Shadyside, Pa.) There was a memorial service held for former Pennsylvania Gov. Dick Thornburgh in Shadyside yesterday. The former Gov. died in 2020 during one of the peak periods of COVID-19 and Family and friends gathered yesterday to remember him at a service that was held at Shadyside Presbyterian Church.
