About 100 people attended a legislative forum question and answer breakfast this morning that sponsored by the Beaver County Chamber of Commerce. State Senator Elder Vogel and representatives Rob Matzie, Jared Gibbons and Jim Marshall answered audience questions for an hour and a half. Beaver County Radio’s Greg Benedetti was also there. The forum was held at the Raddison in Big Beaver.

Aliquippa’s Kennedy Blvd. Paving Project Underway
Tom Smith, Lindy Paving supervisor, says that the Kennedy Boulevard and Brodhead Road paving project in Aliquippa will be complete by October 31st. Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano says the entire project is to be completed by December 8th. Kennedy Boulevard at 21st St. at Aliquippa Elementary is closed to traffic as of yesterday due to the construction. Giordano says entry to the school is by way of Sheffield Rd.
Repairs Being Made To Front Entrance Of Economy Elementary School In Ambridge
Classes in the Ambridge Area School District don’t start until September 6th. According to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano, repairs to the front entrance of Economy Elementary School will soon get underway. The work will be done by C.W. Smith, Contractors…at a cost of 80-thousand dollars.
Two More Beaver County School Districts Head Back To Class
It was back to school today for students in two more local school districts. Students in grades 10 through 12 in the Quaker Valley School District and students in the Riverside School District headed back to the classroom today.
Run For McGuire Donation Check Gets Driven in Style To McGuire Memorial

(Daugherty Township, PA) Members of the “Run For McGuire” committee had another short motorcycle ride on August 25, 2016 as they donned the helmets and riding leather one more time to drive the donation check to the McGuire Memorial campus on route 65 in Daugherty Township. Beaver County Radio is in it’s third year of sponsoring the annual charity motorcycle ride, and this year proved to be a very worthwhile cause, netting a little over $4,300 dollars that was turned over to Sister Thaddeus after arriving at McGuire Memorial.

This Saturday on The Saturday Sports Slam from 8 AM to 10 AM Frank and Greg are going to be previewing The High School Football season. Guests that are scheduled so far this week are Beaver County Radio Sports Director and Beaver County Hall of Fame Broadcaster Bob Barrickman . Newly enshrined in The Larry Bruno Circle of Achievement and New Brighton Athletic Director Joe Ursida will also join the guys to talk about the upcoming football season and also talk about what an AD’s duties are this time of year. New Burger King Coming To Aliquippa
Aliquippa Mayor Dwan Walker announced last night that Burger King is coming to Aliquippa. The popular restaurant will be located on the corner of Brodhead Rd and McLean Street. No date for the opening was announced.
State And Local Officials Attend Roundtable Discussion In Aliquippa Regarding Shell Cracker Plant
About a dozen state and local officials attended a roundtable discussion yesterday at Aliquippa City Hall yesterday to talk about preparing the town and its residents for the arrival of Shell’s ethane cracker plant. Jim Palmer – President of the Beaver County Corporation for Economic Development – attended the meeting. He told Mike Romigh on Teleforum this morning that the meeting was productive and that the economic impact of the cracker plant will felt countywide and beyond. He believes other communities in Beaver County – in addition to Potter and Center Townships – are positioning themselves to take advantage of the potential economic benefits from the cracker plant. The Beaver County Commissioners were not in attendance at yesterday’s meeting. Commissioner Tony Amadio tells Beaver County Radio newsman Pat Septak that a meeting of the Beaver County Retirement Board was held during that same time and that they had an obligation to be there. He called the scheduling conflict a “mistake” and says it was not designed that they missed the meeting.
Game Change For When The Quips Play New Castle Saturday
The Aliquippa School District announced this morning that Saturday’s football game at New Castle starts at 8 p.m., not 7 p.m. According to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano, District officials announced no backpacks are allowed in the stadium.
