The suspect sought in a 2013 murder outside the Elk’s Club in Beaver Falls is in custody. Beaver Falls Police Chief Charles Jones tells Beaver County Radio newsman Pat Septak that 34-year-old Eric Washington turned himself in on Saturday. Washington is accused of opening fire outside the Elk’s Club in April 2013, killing Jerome Goosby and wounding Wally Pickens. Authorities say Washington was identified by Pickens as the shooter. Police also recovered a cell phone near the scene that contained Washington’s DNA. The District Attorney says Pickens’ statement along with other witness accounts led to the arrest. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 19.

Man Identified In Violent Aliquippa Accident
A man was killed in an accident in Aliquippa early Sunday morning. The accident occurred at 7 a.m. on Route 51 near the West Aliquippa Bridge. The Beaver County coroner identified the victim as 38-year-old Carlos Hicks of Aliquippa. Hicks was the driver of the car. The coroner confirmed Hicks died from blunt force trauma. The manner of death is accidental. Aliquippa police are investigating the crash.
27-year-old Man Killed In Glen Osborne Crash
A 27-year-old man was killed in a crash on Ohio River Boulevard in Glen Osborne. The two-vehicle crash happened around 7:00 last night. The victim – identified as Scott Campbell – was taken to Sewickley Valley Hospital – where he died. Investigators have not said what caused the crash.

15 Dogs, Several Birds Killed In New Castle Fire
Two people managed to escape a fire in New Castle, but more than a dozen family pets died. It happened early this morning in a home on Boyles Avenue. Police say the two-alarm fire started in the garage and quickly spread. The back end of the house sustained flame damage and the entire structure sustained smoke and water damage. Officials say all of their pets died in the fire. A total of 15 dogs and several birds were killed. The Red Cross is helping the people who lived inside the house.

Reflective stop signs are now being erected throughout the city of Aliquippa. Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano reports that, according to city councilman Mark Delon, pothole patching and street sweeping are also being done in the city. Plane Arrives In Pittsburgh After 7 Injured By “Severe Turbulence”
A Pittsburgh-bound flight from Punta Cana had to be diverted to Florida after four crew members and three passengers were injured from unexpected turbulence. Some passengers were tossed from their seats, and one flight attendant hit her head on the ceiling of the Allegiant Airlines flight on Thursday. The flight hit the turbulence over the Bahamas, and the plane was diverted to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

Joe Paterno’s son says an allegation made by insurers that a boy told the longtime Penn State football coach in 1976 that he had been molested by former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky is “bunk.” In a tweet sent early Friday morning, Scott Paterno says that “it would be great if everyone waited to see the substance of the allegation before they assume it’s true.”
