(Center Township, PA) Hundreds of prospective future employees visited the CBC golden dome to talk with dozens of employers on hand Wednesday Afternoon. WBVP and WMBA did a live broadcast at the event and talked with many potential recruits about careers in the radio industry. Frank Sparks hosted the popular “Teleforum” talk show live on site from 10 until noon.
Wednesday night, April 19, 2017 was the annual Rochester Chamber of Commerce Annual Chili Cook off. WBVP and WMBA staff entered the Competition with many other local competitors. WBVP and WMBA entered Grandma Billie’s Chili that was a recipe from Carolyn Karas’ mother who passed away in 2001. The recipe is upward of 100 years old. Check out pictures of all the fun below.

Beaver County Radio will be serving up “Grandma Billie’s Chili” at the Rochester Chamber of Commerce’s 8th Annual Chili Cook Off. The recipe is brought to us by our very own Frank Sparks’ mother in-law Carolyn Karas and family. Grandma Billie Hollein passed in 2001 and her recipe of over 75 years lives on.
Be sure to stop by the Brady’s Run Park Lodge in Brighton Township starting at 5:00 PM to sample some of the best chilis in the county. After you try some of our “Grandma Billie’s Chili” you can vote for it as the Fan Favorite! Along with all of the fabulous chilis, there will be fries, chicken wings, beer and other beverages being served.

BEAVER COUNTY RADIO SPORTS ANNOUNCER KERRY LACEY HAS DIED. HE WAS 59. ACCORDING TO WBVP/WMBA SPORTS DIRECTOR BOB BARRICKMAN, LACEY WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT HERITAGE VALLEY BEAVER LATE LAST NIGHT. THE OFFICIAL CAUSE OF DEATH IS PENDING AN AUTOPSY, HOWEVER DOCTORS AT THE MEDICAL CENTER SAY HE DIED FROM HEART FAILURE. LACEY HAS BEEN A SPORTS ANNOUNCER HERE AT THE RADIO STATION FOR THE PAST FIVE YEARS AND HE WAS ALSO A FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE IN THE TREASURER’S OFFICE AT THE BEAVER COUNTY COURTHOUSE. LACEY WAS A BEAVER COUNTY NATIVE. HE GREW UP IN INDUSTRY AND GRADUATED FROM WESTERN BEAVER HIGH SCHOOL IN 1976…AND HE MOST RECENTLY LIVED IN BEAVER. FUNERAL PLANS ARE INCOMPLETE AT THIS TIME. HE IS SURVIVED BY HIS SON EVAN AND MOTHER BETTY. ON BEHALF OF THE ENTIRE STAFF HERE AT BEAVER COUNTY RADIO, OUR HEARTS GO OUT TO THE LACEY FAMILY, AND OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH THEM.

New Brighton council will conduct a public meeting tonight to discuss updates to its storm-sewer system. The annual meeting is designed to inform residents of updates to the M-S-4 system, which stands for Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System. Tonight’s meeting gets underway at 6:30 at the municipal building on Third Street.
(Beaver County, PA) A special edition of “Your Personal Realtor” with ReMax Advanced realtor Eric McKenna , will air this Wednesday, April 19 from 2 until 3:30 P.M. on 1230 WBVP and 1460 WMBA. The move was made to accommodate the annual Rotary Radio Auction, which will air on Saturday April 22, 2017 from 8 A.M. to 2 P.M. Normally, McKenna’s popular show can be heard on Saturday mornings

This will be a huge opportunity for area folks who have real estate questions, to have access to and listen to the show at a different time during the week”.
