Officials are going to be conducting DUI checkpoints around Western Pennsylvania this week. Police and the DUI Task Force will be doing both roving and stationary patrols in various locations in Beaver, Lawrence, Butler and Mercer counties. The crackdown will last through Sunday.

Center Township Supervisors Meet To Discuss ‘Unsafe’ Speed Bumps And 2017 Preliminary Budget
Center Township Board of Supervisors authorized township engineer Larry Souleret to contact the contractor installed speed bumps on the roads leading to Community College of Beaver County and Beaver County Career and Technology Center ., and the school district schools . That’s according to Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano. She says the supervisors have discussed the matter in previous meetings because they are unsafe. and not painted. Pedestrian lights for the school zones in the township haven’t been installed yet, either on the Safe Route to School Trail. Souleret said Penn DOT advised they are on back on order. BF Jones memorial Library’s librarian Linda Helms was present when the supervisors announced they would put up an old copier the police used for sale on Municibid. . Mrs. Helms asked how much they were asking for it. The supervisors agreed to donate it to the library and will be delivered by the township. POLAR EXPRESS, an event for children and one adult will be held at the library Monday, December 5 from 5:45 -7 p.m. Mrs. Helms announced Space is limited reservations are required by calling 724-375-2900. Mac’s Donuts, a gift and a special surprise awaits the children attending, she said. For every dozen Mac’s doughnuts sells, Peoples Gas donates a dollar for every dozen to the library. The supervisors announced that there will be no tax increase in 2017 with adoption of the preliminary budget.

Center Township Home Destroyed
A fire destroyed a 2 story frame home on McCracken Drive in Center Township Friday afternoon. Beaver County Radio News Correspondent Sandy Giordano reports that Fire Captain Chris Shaffer said Friday evening a female resident was taken to the hospital as a precaution and released . Shaffer said firefighters responded at 2:34 p.m. to the home located in mcCracken Farms off Chapel Road. Center Township police Chief Barry Kramer said this morning Township fire marshal Mike Seigal will investigate the cause.
Beaver Falls Wins WPIAL AA Championship!
Congratulations to the Beaver Falls Tigers for winning the WPIAL AA Championship, 35 to 22 over Aliquippa. This is the fourth time that Beaver Falls has won the title, the first in 32 years. They now move on to the state finals. Way to go Tigers!!

New Brighton Man Cut By A Knife During Fight
Police in Ellwood City report a New Brighton man was flown to Allegheny General Hospital after being cut by a knife during a fight at a bar in Ellwood City. According to police, the 28-year-old man was recovering from the injury. According to police, the man said he was in a fight at Weisz’s Hazel Manor, on North St. The victim was treated initially at Ellwood City Hospital before being transported to Allegheny General Hospital by medical helicopter. The investigation is continuing.

STATE POLICE IN LAWRENCE COUNTY HAVE RELEASED THE NAME OF THE BEAVER COUNTY MAN WHO WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL FOLLOWING AN A-T-V ACCIDENT YESTERDAY MORNING IN NEW BEAVER BORO. STATE POLICE REPORTS THAT 63-YEAR-OLD ROBERT MCREADY WAS ATTEMPTING TO CROSS ROUTE 168 WHEN HE WAS STRUCK BY A VEHICLE OPERATED BY 43-YEAR-OLD DORIS DINGER, ALSO OF NEW GALILEE. MCREADY, WHO WAS NOT WEARING A HELMET, WAS THROWN FROM THE A-T-V. HE WAS TAKEN TO HERITAGE VALLEY BEAVER FOR TREATMENT. DINGER WAS NOT HURT.
