HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — A federal judge has thrown out former Penn State President Graham Spanier’s misdemeanor child-endangerment conviction, less than a day before he was due to turn himself in to begin serving a jail sentence. The decision Tuesday by U.S. Magistrate Judge Karoline Mehalchick in Scranton, Pennsylvania, gave state prosecutors three months to retry Spanier under the state’s 1995 child endangerment law, the version in place in 2001.
Ocean City, NJ (AP) – Two water-filled test dummies fell off the GaleForce roller coaster at Playland’s Castaway Cove and crashed into a hotel roof, causing damage to the roof. The theme park’s vice president insists the problem was with the test dummies and not the roller coaster which remains in operation. No one was hurt during the incident.

A Beaver County state lawmaker was among the legislators who have unveiled “Energize PA,” which is being called a pro-growth, pro-jobs legislative package that will create jobs and redevelop infrastructure with no new fees or taxes. An Independence Township man is accused of assaulting his wife and two E-M-T’s in March. Brian Brown is facing drunken driving, terroristic threats, and other charges for the March 27th incidents that ended in the 400-block of Independence Road. Brown is accused of being combative with first responders following a crash, then police found his wife had suffered minor injuries during a domestic dispute back at his apartment on Village Road. Brown’s preliminary hearing is set for May 20th.
