(Beaver Falls, Pa.) Beaver County Radio along with the Pittsburgh Pirates Radio Network announce Bucco rewind. Bucco rewind will be a replay of games of the past that are important in Pittsburgh Pirates history.
The first game is this Thursday afternoon, March 26, 2020, at 1pm. We go back in time to 1960 and Game 7 of the World Series. The Bucs took on the Yankees. One of the most magical days in baseball history as Pirate Bill Mazeroski hit a walk off home run in extra innings to make the Pirates the 1960 Major League Baseball Champions.
The second game will be Monday, March 30, 2020 at 8pm and the Pirates have not released the full schedule and games that will be broadcast at this point.

A new Playboy magazine is on newsstands and as a digital download this week — and it will be the last one this year…maybe ever. The iconic publication will be moving to a digital-first schedule, a decision that was accelerated due to the coronavirus pandemic. Playboy magazine was first published in December of 1953 by Hugh Hefner, who put Marilyn Monroe on the cover. The rest was history. It remains unclear if the magazine will ever return to newsstands.
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania’s state corrections officers’ union wants the prison system to stop all transfers of inmates as a preventative measure against the new coronavirus spreading between institutions. Corrections officers’ union president Larry Blackwell says moving prisoners between facilities risks unnecessarily spreading the virus inside institutions. He wants it to freeze until the virus is under control. Corrections Secretary John Wetzell says that’s not a realistic plan. No case of the coronavirus has been reported in the state prison system. Meanwhile, more businesses are challenging Gov. Tom Wolf’s order closing “non-life-sustaining” businesses and Allegheny County reported another death from COVID-19, bringing the total reported in Pennsylvania to seven.
Musician Neil Diamond is reached out — although, not in a literal sense — on Twitter to give folks a little hope during these tense times…but putting a new twist on one of his classic songs. Over the weekend, Diamond sang an acoustic version of his famous hit “Sweet Caroline” with new lyrics that some would call guidelines for social distancing. “Hands…washing hands,” he crooned while strumming a guitar. “Reaching out…don’t touch me, I won’t touch you!” By Monday morning, the video had more than 100,000 likes and had been retweeted more than 40,000 times. Diamond is just one of several celebrities to reach out to fans on social media during the health crisis.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Hospitals are gearing up to test if a century-old treatment used to fight off pre-vaccine epidemics of flu, measles and other infections might work for COVID-19, too — using blood donated from patients who’ve recovered. Doctors in China attempted the first treatments using infusions of donated plasma. Now U.S. hospitals are seeking government permission for formal studies to test antibody-rich plasma in the sick. They also want to test if the infusions could offer offer temporary, vaccine-like protection to people at high risk, such as hospital workers. History suggests it could work but there’s no guarantee.
NEW YORK (AP) — Gov. Andrew Cuomo has sounded his most dire warning yet about the coronavirus pandemic. He said Tuesday the infection rate in New York is accelerating and the state could be two to three weeks away from a crisis that sees 40,000 people in intensive care. Such a surge would swamp hospitals, which now have just 3,000 intensive care unit beds in the entire state. Cuomo said the rate of new infections is doubling about every three days. Johns Hopkins University data shows there have been more than 23,000 positive cases in New York state.
NEW YORK (AP) — The International Olympic Committee has postponed this summer’s Tokyo Games for a year as coronavirus deaths mount around the world and U.S. lawmakers close in on a nearly $2 trillion deal to help cushion the economic damage from the crisis. The IOC acted on the recommendation of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, adding the Olympics to a long roster of sports events canceled because of the deadly outbreak.
